Can you trust organic cat food?

can you really trust that the organic pet food in stores be truly organic? if so whats a good, possibly cheap, brand to buy? also is it possible to make them fresh meals yourself? like fish, etc. w/ herbs?
I have been reading about pet food lately, and it depends on the brand and ingredients. We just switched to Felidae (by Canidae) bc it seemed to make sense. My cat likes it and he’s very, very fussy – in fact my cat won’t even eat people food. Try reading this and other sites and then make your decision. http://www.canidae.com/ This is pretty interesting too: http://www.api4animals.org/facts.php?p=359&more=1 Also – remember commercial sites exist to promote their own product. You can read about organic topics at: http://www.organicconsumers.org/ Do I want hormones and antibiotics in my food? No. We buy organic most of the time bc it tastes better and has less junk in it.

How to swich to homemade cat food?

Although I  understand how important what to feed my cat, the most hard question we(my cat and me) have faced was “how to swich to healthier food“, such homemade cat food from commercial cat food. And what are the good recipes for that? And feeding guidelines?

After unsucessful trial, left over homemade cat food for a couple of days, I found this site, http://www.catinfo.org a website run by a vet who studies feline nutrition. The sites has the recipe the site owner makes and feedson to her own cats, and I’ve been using it for almost two years now and my cat is in wonderful health. The good thing is you’ll need less food because there aren’t any fillers in the food, and your cats will produce less waste for the same reason(saves toilet sand!). At first it may look more expensive, but it really is cheaper in the long run in so many ways. Less vet visit, less waste. Check it out!

In addition to their regular cat food diet, what food can I make for my cats at home?

My guess is that there’s nothing better than fresh, real food, and not the kind of thing our cats can get from dry food that has been processed. So I was wondering if I could feed them some real food once a week or so. What food will they enjoy that WON’T harm them. Thanks.
Please skip the tuna… up to 20% of your cat’s diet could come from unsupplemented food like chicken, etc. its up to you whether you feed raw or cooked. You can also change from dry food to a high quality canned food, that would be a HUGE improvement. For more diet info from a vet, see www.catinfo.org
