Answering the Question – Is it Okay to Feed Your Ferrets Cat Food?

Ferrets are adorable pets that are very active and playful. But, due to lack of basic information about them, owners of the pet usually are confused about one question. Is it okay to feed your ferrets cat food? The answer is not entirely a yes or no. They are carnivorous and like meat, especially cooked. If you can find quality ferret food in your locality then there is nothing like it. But, cat food is excellent enough to provide them most of the nutrients they need, in case it is hard to find excellent ferret food.

If you are plotting to feed your ferret with cat food, ensure that it has at least 30-35% protein content and 15-20% stout content. High quality protein content in the food keeps the them active and energetic. Kitten food is usually preferred for ferrets if you are unable to find traditional food. But, kitten food like kibble should be brown and crunchy. This also helps in maintaining the dental health of the pet. Crunchy cat food can also be given to them. But, soft cat food should be avoided.

Canned or dry cat food is nearly as excellent as ferret food. But you should make sure the food is low in fiber, sugar and grains. The fiber content in the food should be less than 3% at all costs. Sweets and sugar content also prove harmful to them causing insulin related complications when they grow ancient. The food should be dry but it should not be soft. Dry diet is always more nutritious for the pet.

The other advantage of dry ferret diet is that it is more economical. It also lasts longer and does not get spoilt when stored. If you are wondering “is it okay to feed your ferrets cat food?” you need not be worried if you can ensure that the food contains some vitamin supplement as well. Finally you should make sure the ferret drinks enough water to avoid dehydration. Many pet owners leave a small bowl of water near the cage to ensure it sips from it every now and then.

Max the cat, whom we believe to be around 15 years of age (human years), but won’t meow either way, is a professional cola taste tester in Jacksonville, Fla., and who is known for his rough tongue decisions when it comes to taste testing. Though today, in the Cola nationals taste competition that was held Feb. 6, 2005, at my brother’s home in Orange Park, chose after pawing his way through so many different colas over the years, not to mention today, including, Coke, Diet Coke, Diet Rite, Pepsi, Orange drink, and even Root Beer, and knowing that we were watching and we were waiting, pawing for his choice that we thought would never come. He would only look up at us from time to time, knowing what he was doing to us as we watched him, but we just waited for him to give us some kind of sign by either a scratch or a hiss, maybe even a cough which we figured might never happen. Though as we waited pawingly for his choice, and wondered how much longer should we should let this go on, but dealing with Max, knowing that maybe it was just ancient age, we chose to just let him take his time, and let him tell us when the time was right. Because knowing Max, somethings were never going to change with a grumpy ancient guy like himself. So we waited and waited for him to make some kind of go. At times, he would look one way or another, even tilting his head toward Root Beer, but oh no, and so he would make us wait, thinking that maybe we might not approach him anytime soon for a

I like the simple to serve cup it comes in. You just pour it into the bowl and and it’s not too much so you’re not wasting any food. It’s one of the better cat foods on the market.

My cats like this brand of wet food, and it seems from reading the ingredients that it is pretty excellent compared to some other brands.

After my dog got out his kennel and ate through the side….

I didn’t look for ANY OTHER type of storage system. It was another soft vittles vault or nothing. I’ve tried about everything until I stumbled on one of these about 5 years ago. I’ll never use anything else.

We live in the woods and mice in the garage are a problem. They don’t get in here. The food stays fresh, it collapses as you use it up and the lid just spins on and off with the flip of the wrist.

Best of all, grab the strap throw it in the back of the truck and we are off on a hunting trip.

This is one of the few products you’ll run across that once you use it, you won’t want anything else.

I know its just a dog food container, but that’s exactly my point…food storage and feeding the dog shouldn’t be a pain…and its not with one of these.

I =LIKE= this!! It is, quite possibly, the best thought for pet food storage.

Not only is this a quality product and MUCH simpler to handle/manage the pet food than keeping it in the bags, but it keeps the food fresh and free from pests. The top is a large opening with a screw-top lid and very simple to use. I can not imagine dealing with bags of pet food ever again.

I give these as gifts to anyone bringing home a new puppy. Years later I am still being thanked for the gift. Yes, it is that excellent.

My largest problem with this is that there’s no structure in the top of this. So, when unscrewing the lid, you have to twist it to get it to the point where the seal will break loose. Not a deal breaker, but still annoying.

The soft food storage container is perfect for our limited pantry space, as it gets smaller (on its own!) as the food is used up. It’s exactly as descrirbed, sturdy and well made.

I would recommend this storage bag to anyone who has a dog or cat, way better than keeping food in large bulky containers, I have the bag that holds 30 lbs of food and I absolutely LIKE IT! BUY THIS, nothing compares when it comes to storing their food.
